UNDERSTANDING MARTIAL ART

After having studied Martial Art for many years, as a student, a teacher, a soldier, and a human being, and after being inspired by very insightful and skilled teachers around the world, I have realised that universal principles exist, principles that are keeping together, enhancing and strengthening the structure (the kihon and kata) of the martial arts. These principles follow rules and laws of nature – Physics, biomechanics and psychology, to mention a few.

In Japanese, these Principles would be described as kaname. Kaname means a vital point or a key principle. An aspect or a function that is crucial to what you want to achieve, and if not present, what you are trying to do will not work.

These Kaname Principles will enhance your understanding and performance, when you learn, when you teach, when in combat, and when you live your life.

The KANAME principles are a central part of our martial skills, they come far before the study of any Densho or Ryu (School). The only thing more fundamental than the KANAME principles is life itself, and the instincts nature gave us to survive the harsh reality of life on planet Earth.

Let yourself be inspired by the ideas and perspectives in this book, and apply what you think makes sense.

That is what the study of martial art is all about; the ability to be inspired by every little detail, to keep an open mind, to absorb impressions, to experiment, to test, to evolve, to keep going…

TEN CHI JIN – Bujinkan Basics

TEN CHI JIN er ikke blot en samling af teknikker. TEN CHI JIN er en træningsfilosofi, som dækker alt lige fra den fysiske grundtræning til studiet af avancerede principper, som kræver dyb forståelse og stor erfaring.

”TEN CHI JIN – Bujinkan Basics” er et værktøj og et opslags værk, som henvender sig til både unge, som erfarne, elever, som instruktører i budo.  Brug den som træningsinspiration, vejledning eller noter.

Følges TEN CHI JIN bliver den studerende ledt igennem et cyklisk træningsforløb, som gentages utallige gange i løbet af træningslivet. I hver cyklus vil den studerende opleve nye elementer af filosofien, skønt det er det samme program som følges. Dette skyldes at den studerende løbende ændrer karakter, eftersom færdigheder og forståelse udvikles igennem studiet af kunsten. Den studerende arbejder sig støt og roligt til en dybere forståelse, og mere raffinerede færdigheder, bare ved at følge (TEN CHI JIN) vejen.

På et tidspunkt vil det være nødvendigt for den studerende at forlade vejen, men grundfilosofien for hvordan man færdes på kunstens vej (budo) vil altid følge den studerende, og han eller hun kan altid vende tilbage til vejen hvis de skulle fare vildt, eller have brug for et sikkert udgangspunkt.
